President Tinubu approves the Nigeria First Policy and bans foreign goods

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a new policy called the Nigeria First Policy, which aims to stop importing foreign goods. This decision was shared in a statement on Wednesday by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

As part of this policy, there will be new rules for how government ministries and agencies purchase goods, focusing on supporting local products and businesses.

President Tinubu made this decision following advice from the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Adebowale Adedokun, to help align with his vision for a better Nigeria, known as the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The specific details of how this policy will be put into action will be provided by Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, the Director General of BPP.

It's worth noting that on May 3rd, 2025, President Tinubu had already ordered a ban on importing foreign goods that could be made in Nigeria.
