Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully recovered 56 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) believed to have been planted by suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) along the strategic bridge that connects Marte and Dikwa in Borno State.

This discovery occurred during a clearance patrol conducted by soldiers of the 24 Brigade in Dikwa, effectively averting what could have been a catastrophic attack aimed at both military forces and civilian traffic along this crucial route.

According to an eyewitness report, the IEDs were meticulously buried at key locations along the bridge by ISWAP militants, intending to inflict mass casualties and disrupt movement in the vicinity. Military sources indicate that the prompt detection and removal of these explosives averted significant potential loss of life and property.

The Marte-Dikwa corridor remains a recognized hotspot for insurgent activities, necessitating ongoing aggressive clearance and security operations by the military to neutralize threats and ensure safe passage for both residents and personnel. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend those responsible and dismantle any residual IED networks operating within the region.
