Achraf Hakimi Faces 15 Years in Prison Over Rape Allegations

Achraf Hakimi, who serves as a right-back for the Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the national football team of Morocco, faces the possibility of a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison concerning allegations of rape from 2023, should he be found guilty. Hakimi has denied these allegations.

On Friday 1st August, the French prosecutors formally requested that Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan star of Paris Saint-Germain, stand trial for the alleged rape of a woman in 2023, a charge he categorically denies.

The Nanterre prosecutor's office has petitioned the investigating judge to refer the case to a criminal court, with the final determination currently pending.

Hakimi, 26 years of age, played a pivotal role in PSG's inaugural Champions League title victory, scoring during their 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in May 2025.

He was charged in March 2023 with the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman, an incident that reportedly took place on February 25, 2023, at his residence in Boulogne-Billancourt while his family was away.

Hakimi, who contributed to Morocco's advancement to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, continues to refute the allegations.
