The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has expressed significant concern regarding an alleged plan to assault the party's National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event scheduled for Sunday.
In a statement issued by the state's Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the party asserted that it has uncovered indications of a conspiracy by certain individuals to coordinate an attack against the National Chairman at the Gindiri Old Students’ Reunion Service in Gindiri town, situated in the Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
The party alleged that the individuals involved in this purported plot are convening at a private residence in Jos to finalize arrangements for the assault.
“As part of this scheme, three buses have been organized in each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport individuals prepared to engage in violent acts at the Gindiri Missionary Compound, where they intend to publicly embarrass the National Chairman and his associates,” the statement noted. Furthermore, the party reported that unverified information suggests that some individuals will also be stationed at the Gindiri Roundabout.
Bamaiyi emphasized that media personnel from both within and outside Plateau State are being mobilized to fabricate the impression that the people of Plateau have a disdain for the National Chairman.
In light of this troubling situation, the APC, as a law-abiding political entity, is urgently appealing to security agencies to investigate the matter to preempt any potential disruption of peace and order. The party also urges its supporters to maintain composure and adhere to lawful conduct despite the provocation they may face.
