2027 Political Shift: Mass Defections from ADC, APC, and LP to PDP in Otukpo LGA, Benue

In light of the political shift in Nigeria, thousands of supporters from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), demonstrating robust support in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

This mass defection occurred in Adoka town on Sunday, July 27, 2025, attracting a large gathering of party members, political stakeholders, and local residents.

The defectors received a warm welcome from Senator Abba Moro, the representative for the Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, who characterized the event as a potent reflection of the PDP’s growing influence and enduring connection with the grassroots.

In his address to the assembly, Senator Moro commended the new members for their decision, describing it as a courageous and timely action that aligns with the current political climate. He assured them of their full integration into the PDP and emphasized the party’s commitment to collaborating with all dedicated individuals to foster development and promote effective governance within the region.

“This substantial defection today serves as a clear indication that our constituents are weary of political deception and unfulfilled promises,” stated Moro. “You have returned to a party that comprehends your challenges, empathizes with your difficulties, and is genuinely devoted to your advancement. The PDP is the people's party, and together we will work towards the revitalization and transformation of our communities.”
