Nnamdi Kanu murdered over 50 soldiers, 24 policemen, ordered burning down of Lagos – Omokri alleges

Reno Omokri, former presidential aide, has accused Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of orchestrating the deaths of over 50 soldiers, 24 policemen, and numerous civilians in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

Omokri made these claims during an interview on Channels Television, in response to remarks made by Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, who asserted that Nnamdi Kanu's ongoing trial lacks rationale.

Omokri further indicated that he possesses video evidence purportedly depicting Kanu instructing his followers to commit these violent acts. He also alleged that in the same video, Kanu directed his supporters to incite destruction in Lagos State.

In refuting Peter Obi’s statement, Omokri defended the legitimacy of Kanu's trial, questioning why the former presidential candidate allegedly refrained from condemning the actions of IPOB and unidentified assailants in the Southeast region.

He stated, “Peter Obi claimed that the trial of Nnamdi Kanu does not make sense. However, I possess a video which, due to restrictions, we cannot present here, wherein he can be heard urging his supporters to kill soldiers and set fire to Lagos.

“In light of that video, one must consider the casualties: over 50 soldiers have lost their lives in the Southeast region, including an army couple who were reportedly killed and beheaded in Imo State.

“Furthermore, 160 police stations were forcibly closed in the Southeast due to attacks by IPOB, unidentified gunmen, and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), resulting in the deaths of 24 policemen.

“How can one assert that the trial of an individual responsible for such actions lacks justification?”
