The Ipusu Women Association conducted a solidarity visit today to His Excellency, Reverend Father Doctor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, on 13th August 2025, during which they affirmed their steadfast support for his administration and its developmental initiatives.
In his address at the Government House, Governor Alia expressed profound gratitude for the significant attendance of the women, characterizing their visit as a considerable honor. He praised their acknowledgment of the recent stabilization of the national economy, attributing this achievement to the efforts of the President, and conveyed appreciation for their recognition of the progress made in the state under his leadership.
Addressing the issue of security, the Governor reassured the women that, with continued public support, challenges related to insecurity and the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) would soon be alleviated.
He condemned the recent incident in Yelewata, assuring that occurrences of this nature would be mitigated due to the increased security measures implemented by the Federal Government.
Governor Alia states that many affected local government areas have experienced significant improvement, indicating that the state is on the path to achieving lasting peace.
He encouraged the women to register and acquire their voter cards, promising to persist in delivering democratic benefits if granted another term in office. He urged them to capitalize on the state’s agricultural and industrial initiatives, commending their registration as a cooperative society as a strategic step toward benefiting from government programs. Additionally, he called for unity among the Ipusu community, urging them to remain resolute in their support.
Earlier, Mrs. Ann Mker, the leader of the Ipusu Women, stated that the group visited as mothers to express their appreciation for the Governor’s positive efforts, urging him to remain undeterred by those she described as “enemies of progress.” She praised his dedication to security and the inclusion of women in governance, highlighting the appointments of the Secretary to the State Government and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). She assured him of their unwavering support for the duration of his eight-year term.
Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, the Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended the solidarity among women across party affiliations who gathered to honor the Governor, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in electoral processes. She also expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her assistance to the community.
Dr. Jem Tor-anyiin, representing male stakeholders, characterized the visit as a long-awaited event and reiterated the commitment of the men’s group to support both the women and the Governor's administration.
Benjamin Omale, the APC State Chairman, expressed gratitude to the Ipusu women for their display of loyalty and affection, describing Governor Alia as the leader poised to guide Benue to the “promised land.” He urged continued unity and dedication in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
Notable highlights of the event included the presentation of the Ipusu Cooperative Society certificate to the Governor and his adornment in Tiv traditional attire as a gesture of honor.
