The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, extended his congratulations to Miss Francisca Mlumun Ordega, a distinguished player from Benue, following the Super Falcons' triumphant performance at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
During a reception held in his office on Friday in Abuja, Professor Utsev, accompanied by Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, expressed the Ministry's pride in celebrating Miss Ordega and her teammates for their remarkable achievement in securing the trophy for an unprecedented tenth time.
The Minister conveyed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the team, which contributed to their success and for the national honors and commendable rewards bestowed upon them to enhance their motivation.
Professor Utsev emphasized that the exceptional display of performance by the team at the tournament exemplified their dedication, perseverance, and collaborative spirit.
He also expressed particular pride that a daughter of Benue has significantly contributed to Nigeria's accomplishments and pledged to continue supporting and inspiring the youth of Benue to achieve excellence in their respective fields.
In her response, Miss Ordega expressed her gratitude for the recognition from her brother and uncle, Professor Utsev, as well as from the esteemed citizens of Benue, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the nation at large. She urged the Minister to persist in fostering sports development in Benue to unearth and nurture further talents.
Additionally, Professor Utsev honored Mr. Paul Akusu, a Police Personnel assigned to his escort, who has recently been promoted from Sergeant to Inspector. During this recognition, he commended Mr. Akusu for his diligence and commitment to duty, encouraging him to maintain his exemplary spirit.
