Alhaji Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State Threatens Legal Action Over PDP Chairmanship Form Denial

Alhaji Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, has publicly expressed his deep disappointment after being denied the opportunity to purchase a nomination form to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This incident has left him feeling frustrated and unsupported in his quest to contribute to the party he holds dear.

Upon arriving at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday morning October 27, 2025, Lamido was turned away from obtaining the form. He described this experience as “unacceptable and undemocratic,” voicing concerns for the values of fairness and openness that he believes should be foundational to the party.

In a heartfelt conversation with journalists outside the party headquarters, Lamido shared his bitter feelings of dismay. He has made it clear that he is prepared to seek legal recourse if he is not given a fair chance to participate in the upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“I came here with the hope of contributing to our party’s future, but I was denied that opportunity,” Lamido stated, conveying the sense of injustice he feels. “This is not the democracy our party stands for. If this situation persists, I may have to seek legal avenues for resolution, but I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that.”

Earlier, Lamido had announced his intentions to run for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship position in a post on his verified Facebook page, indicating his commitment to the PDP's future.

His actions come at a time of heightened tension within the party, as members prepare for the national convention, where the leadership of the National Working Committee will be decided. Lamido’s plight underscores the importance of inclusivity and democratic values within the party as it moves forward.
