The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, under the leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia, hosted a pre-decamping dinner on October 11, 2025, at the Government House in Makurdi aiming to welcome and integrate new members.
During the dinner, numerous politicians across different political parties expressed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alia. The gathering included several esteemed individuals from Benue State who announced their intentions to officially join the ruling party in the near future.
Governor Alia described the dinner as a vital opportunity for fellowship and dialogue, focusing on fostering unity and sharing information about the progress made in the state. He reiterated his administration's dedication to the welfare of Benue citizens, emphasizing that collaboration among all residents is crucial for the continued transformation of the region.
In addressing recent decisions regarding loans, Governor Alia clarified that these measures are intended to complete vital infrastructure projects and settle debts from prior administrations.
Several prominent figures showed their support, including federal lawmaker Pastor Ojotu Ojoma, former NAFDAC Director General Dr. Paul Orhii, and former Commissioner for Information Mrs. Ngunan Addingi. They praised Governor Alia for his development initiatives and the renewed sense of optimism he has brought to governance.
Additionally, members of the Benue State House of Assembly announced their alignment with Governor Alia, highlighting the positive changes his administration has initiated. Professors Steven Ugba and Eugene Aliegba commended his efforts to secure federal appointments for Benue indigenes, viewing him as a champion of significant reform.
Dr. Benjamin Omale, Acting State Chairman of the APC, remarked that the growing number of new party members reflects the Governor's substantial accomplishments, promising prospective members equitable opportunities within the party.
Hon. Solomon Wombo, Chairman of the event's Central Planning Committee and a representative of Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo, indicated that the dinner marks the beginning of significant political realignment in the state, with more politicians expected to join the APC in the coming days.
