Victor Osimhen's Hat-Trick Elevates Him to Top Scorer Position in the UEFA Champions League

Victor Osimhen propelled Galatasaray to a 3-0 triumph over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League on Matchday 4, achieving a hat-trick that enabled him to amass six goals and surpass Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappé in the 2025/26 scoring race.

The Nigerian striker initiated the scoring in the 59th minute, skillfully evading Ajax's defense to direct a precise header from Leroy Sané into the net.

He subsequently converted two penalties in swift succession, within a span of 10 minutes, thereby securing his inaugural UEFA Champions League hat-trick.

Kane and Mbappé remained at five goals each after failing to score in their respective matches, while Haaland added one goal against Borussia Dortmund, yet remains one goal behind Osimhen.

Osimhen's scoring tally further includes a decisive goal against Liverpool on Matchday 2 and a brace in a 3-1 victory over Bodø/Glimt during Matchday 3; he did not participate in Galatasaray's Matchday 1 defeat to Frankfurt.

At 26 years of age, Osimhen has also established himself as Nigeria's all-time leading scorer in UEFA club competitions, having surpassed Obafemi Martins' former record of 23 goals.
