The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) is poised to collaborate with Francesca Ordega OON, a five-time champion of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), to establish a football academy dedicated to nurturing female football talent in the state.
Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, the Group Managing Director of BIPC, made this announcement during a meeting with Miss Francesca Ordega following her remarkable fifth victory at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.
Dr. Asemakaha commended the distinguished footballer for elevating the profile of Benue State on the international stage and expressed the company's commitment to investing in initiatives that provide both social and economic returns, in alignment with the vision of His Excellency Rev Fr Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State.
"We are privileged to host you today and are prepared to extend our support. While we are a business entity focused on profitability, we recognize the importance of investing in endeavors that promote sports development within our state," he stated.
The BIPC Managing Director also assured Ordega of the company’s comprehensive support for her initiative aimed at providing assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) within the state.
In her remarks, Francesca Ordega commended Dr. Asemakaha for leading an industrial renaissance in Benue and praised the company’s investment in local brands, as exemplified by Zeva Premium Beer, Oyi Bitters, baked goods, bottled water, solar vehicles, and Emperor Fertilizer.
She appealed for BIPC's support in realizing her vision of establishing a football academy that would serve as a foundational platform for aspiring female footballers throughout Benue State.
In a closing statement, Terver Bosua, Head of the Department of Finance and Accounts, expressed gratitude to Ordega for successfully raising Benue's profile on the international stage.
