Governor Hyacinth Alia Assigns Portfolios to Newly Appointed Commissioners in Benue State

The Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has officially assigned portfolios to the newly appointed Commissioners.

The portfolio assignment by Governor Alia to the 17 newly appointed commissioners follows their inauguration on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Old Banquet Hall, Benue State Government House in Makurdi, Benue State.

Governor Alia emphasized the importance of loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the grassroots in their service to the state. He characterized the appointees as meticulously selected individuals from various regions of the state, tasked with advancing his administration’s development agenda.

The governor urged the commissioners to engage closely with their communities, serve as advocates for government initiatives, and uphold confidentiality in matters concerning state governance. He also reminded them of their oath of office, underscoring the necessity of adhering to the Nigerian Constitution with impartiality and integrity.

Following the conclusion of today’s State Executive Council meeting, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, briefed the media regarding the official appointments made by the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for the newly designated commissioners.

2. Dr. Ortese Yanmar – Commissioner for Cooperatives and Rural Development

3. Dr. Fredrick Ikyaan – Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals

4. Hon. Michael Oglegba – Commissioner for Finance

5. Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime – Commissioner for Youth, Creativity, and Innovation

6. Hon. Alumo Orpin – Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment

7. Hon. Ugwu Odoh – Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment

8. Hon. Kunde Aondowase – Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management

9. Hon. Kwaghgba Amande – Commissioner for ICT and Digital Economy

10. Hon. Joseph Ter Jir – Commissioner for Transport and Power/Energy

This configuration of Commissioners represents a concerted effort to enhance governance and drive development in Benue State. Governor Alia charged the commissioners to justify the confidence reposed in them by working in synergy with his administration to deliver people-oriented policies and programs.

He called on the media and the general public to extend maximum cooperation to the new appointees to ensure the success of their assignments.
