Unmasking Fear: Bandits Disguised in Hijabs Kidnap School Principal and Local Woman in Niger

Armed bandits stormed the Melehe community in Niger State's Kontagora Local Government Area on Friday night, kidnapping two individuals, including the Principal of Junior Secondary School Melehe.

The attackers, disguised in hijabs, pretended to be ordinary women as they casually sat at the entrance of the victims' residence between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Around 11:00 p.m., they removed their hijabs, forcefully entered the house, and abducted the school principal and a Fulani woman named Aminu Runtoje.

Residents described the attack as shocking and are calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and protect rural communities from further attacks.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Niger State, where banditry and kidnappings have become increasingly common.
