Domestic Violence: Kinsmen to Return Regina Daniels' Bride Price to Senator Ned Nwoko by Force

Kinsmen to Return Regina Daniels' Bride Price to Senator Ned Nwoko by Force

The relatives of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, hailing from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, to accept the bride price paid for her marriage, or they will proceed with a traditional declaration that formally terminates the union.

This demand was articulated in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi, representing the community, which accused the senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly utilizing his political influence to intimidate members of Regina's family.

The kinsmen emphasized that their tradition permits any woman to terminate her marriage provided that her family returns the bride price.

They claimed that multiple attempts to return the payment have been declined by Nwoko.

They further warned that should he refuse the return once again, the funds would be publicly placed at Ikeleke Quarter, a symbolic act signifying the dissolution of the marriage according to Ogwashi-Uku customs.

The letter also condemned the reported detention of Regina’s siblings, characterizing it as an act of oppression. It concluded by calling for the immediate release of the detained individuals.
